Well, it finally happened. I didn't know when this day would come, but I knew that it would. After 173 straight weeks and around 400 songs worth of Friday Bruce Fixes, I've had enough. This is Your Final Friday Bruce Fix.
It has been a lot of fun, and I feel good about the collection of fixes archived on the blog. I suppose there may come a time when I'll look back through all the fixes, and I'm sure that will stir up a lot of fond memories. If you know anyone who needs a crash course in Bruce Springsteen, send them to www.fridaybrucefix.com.
There's no question that I had a lot of great material to work with. So, thanks Bruce for all the great songs and performances, for assembling the best band anywhere and for leading them like no one else can. Thanks also to all the amazing Bruce lovers out there for collecting and posting an incredible wealth of videos, lyrics, and historical information. All that giving and sharing simply allowed me to do a little more sharing.
By the way, make sure to catch Bruce in his first appearance on Little Steven's Underground Garage, in which Bruce and Stevie swap stories about their early days on the Jersey Shore. As part of the celebration of the Underground Garage's 9th anniversary, the first of three episodes runs this weekend. Congratulations Stevie! I thought I'd wrap up with three songs that are each making their first appearance on Your Friday Bruce Fix. They just feel like goodbye. So farewell, thanks for keeping me company, and I'll see you further on up the road.
Long Walk Home (2 versions, the second for Stevie Van Zandt's great vocal towards the end of the song starting around the 3:28 mark)
The Long Goodbye
Further On Up The Road
PS. April Fools!
