This week I thought I'd feature a couple of my favourite solo piano arrangements of two early Bruce Springsteen songs, one from each of his first two albums. Both live performances come from 1975, as the world was starting to take notice of the skinny kid from New Jersey.
First up is the one and only 'Incident on 57th Street', from Bruce's second album 'The Wild, The Innocent and the E Street Shuffle', with Roy Bittan on piano. This version comes from Bruce's Oct 11, 1975 appearance in Red Bank, NJ at the Monmouth Arts Center, during the Born to Run tour. Bruce did two shows that night, and this is how he opened the second show.
This superb version of 'For You', from Bruce's debut album 'Greetings from Asbury Park', comes from Bruce's show at the Main Point, in Bryn Mawr, PA, on Feb 5, 1975. This one features Bruce on piano. This was an encore, the second last song of the night.
